Today we talk about patch 1.8 and do some analysis on what can be done to make sure you are prepared for it.

Here is the 1.8 Patch annoucement for the 13th of January!
So after the 13th the new system will be implemented and the changes will occur only when season 2 of KVK starts. This means that, for the servers that did the KvK test season, we will go into Season 1 first and then , when Season 1 ends, we will be able to enjoy all the 1.8 changes when we go into Season 2.
From the 13th, and including the estimated duration of 45 days for KVK , plus a potential interval between Season 1 of KVK and Season 2 of KVK, we might be looking at a start of season 2 in the middle of march. So we got time to think and prepare.
Changes and what they mean!
New level caps , this means that the max level will no longer be 40.
Start saving up on everything. Exp scrolls, resource items, speedups! If you are already level 40, with maxed and buildings and with a full max march (dragon, immortal level, immortal boost, etc) you might want to consider saving up on all you can so you can get that extra boost when things unlock. Keep doing your technology upgrades, but don't rush it, do the same for dragons.
Keeping your speedup high is important. If you already have your main march setup, it won't be a big deal to have a secondary drake from 34 to 35, but it might be a big deal to be able to go from 40 to 42 in a blink of an eye! If you are still unlocking the last tier of Troop Technology it might be worth pursuing that. If you are done with those, just take it easy and prepare. Start saving up purple essences and then decide where you want to invest in, for now there is only mention to Tower of Knowledge level increase (thus increasing the skill cap from 8 to.... 9?10?11? who knows) but they might still change some things and even add new skills so just be patient, if you are capable of being patient. For the F2P players it might be worth considering to be mono march focused. Currently the cost from 7 to 8 is already huge, 72k purple essences. The cost from 8-9 will be even greater.. So, in order to "compete" for late game it might be worth full focusing your essences on getting a main march to max ToK skills. As of now, the game is in a pretty decent balanced state. Lightspenders or really Old F2P players have a good 200k+ march that allows them to be a good asset in the game AND Whales have 3/4 200k+ marches. So for the little fishes in the pond, might be time to step up the main march focus in order to, at least, have a march that can cause some damage and help out - instead of 2 decent marches that can only be relevant against other F2P/Light spenders. It's a huge commitment but do you want do spend everything you got in a KOTH or a City Expansion and then 1 or 2 weeks later, 1.8 comes out and you are dry? Up to you! We have no idea how big the new level cap is and how much power it can represent - so choose wisely!
Lord Levels and Lord Talents will also increase. Not sure how many people are already at Lord Level 40, but I guess it's something else to look forward to. For now we can only speculate on how big of a game changer this will be and how many days/weeks/months of upgrades it can provide, so I'm looking forward to see 1.8 in action and all the potential it has.
