Hello there, Manny here! Today in guide number 3 of our Back to Basic Series I bring you a super important topic that I wish I'd knew more about in my early stages of the game. Lets talk about the most important resources of the game - Gems , Purple Essences and Philosopher Stones!

Optimizing your resource use is critical. Whether you are a F2P or P2W, you need to know how to invest so you get maximum return for what you spend. In IK we have 3 important resouces that drive your power, in particular your fighting power - which is what we all want, right? So what are these resources? GEMS

GEMS can be obtained via in-game purchases, via alliance reward gifts, hunting bosses, completing missions/quests, daily reward, nobility daily reward, etc, etc, etc. The game offers you a steady income of gems, you just need to manage it properly.
Gems can be used in pretty much everything. You can buy AP(AP bar or Gem Shop), you can buy Immortals (market, mysterium), Speedups (market, Gem Shop), you can buy philosopher stones (hall of immortals, Gem shop), etc etc.

So with all this to choose from, how should you spend your GEMS?
Well it depends, as always, on your playstyle.
I'll tell you a bit about my experience as a very, very light spender in the early stages of the game. My gems were used only for Atilla, the Hun. My plan was to first allocate all my gems towards getting Atilla maxed. So if you are building some sort of march that has Immortals only obtainable via gems in market, you should prioritize that.
As soon as that was done and until now(mid to late game stage), all my gems are used for buying Philosophers Stones(Red Stones) in order to perform x9 Advanced Summons.
Lets talk about Red Stones and why they are so important!!
Philosopher Stone (Red Stones)

Red Stones allow you to perform summons in Hall Of Immortals, where you get fragments of Immortals.
Fragments are crucial - they can be used to "star up" your Immortal, boosting their stats and their special ability level.

Fragments can also be dismantled in Alchemy Lab, giving you Purple Essence in return. Having a solid plan regarding your March setups and what you want to play will make it easy to decide which fragments to keep and which fragments to dismantle. My Water team is maxed out and at the moment i'm trying to build my 2nd march, so Immortal Fragments for my Fire Team is all i'm concerned in keeping. All the rest are dismantled and converted in Purple Essces that are used in Tower of Knowledge.

Purple Essence

Purple Essence is obtainable by dismantling Immortals in Alchemy Lab.
It is the currency that is used in Tower of Knowledge to learn and upgrade ToK Skills.

Skills are costly to learn and upgrade, so an advice is : look around a bit before commiting essences into skills. Check "Arena Ranking" to see which skills people are using, look at the marches that are the same as the one you are going for and try to see which skills are a common factor and try to go for those "safe skills" first. You are probably OK with upgrading some skills to level 4 to power up and clear some content, but above that - please make sure you want to commit that amount of resources to it. Skills can be "reseted" (back to level 1) but they only give you 80% of the essence invested - not counting the amount you spent to learn it.
Important End Note:
Plan ahead. Lay out a plan, stick to it and be patient. This is the key to success. If you try to spread your resources across several fronts, you won't progress in either.
This game is a marathon, not a sprint. Sometimes it's best to save up a bit and slow your progress down, instead of going on a rampage of resource spending that will, in the end, set you back.
Example : I saved purple essences for about 2/3 months, racking up about 250k purple essences. This meant applying all my gems to summons and dismantling all immortals fragments. I did this when I was going for Castle Level 40, and my ToK was about lvl 36. Why? I knew there were several ToK skills I wanted to invest in and I prepared for it. On the short term it made me weaker, but as soon as my objective was done, my power spike was huge - I was able to learn all the skills and level them up quite a bit, greatly powering my march.

TL DR; Gems, Purple Essence and Philosopher Stone greatly drive your power, especially your fighting power. Lay out a plan on how you want to progress regarding your march and stick to it. Carefuly manage these resource because this game is all about long term planning.
This is all for today! Happy Hoarding!
